Senior Policy Planner - District Plan team

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Policy Planner to join our Environmental Policy team, playing a key role in planning for the future of Whanganui. You will require advanced technical skills, a solid understanding of the Resource Management Act and be able to contribute to the organisation at the operational, strategic and political levels. You will get to work on a variety of urban and rural issues as a member of the Environmental Policy team, currently undertaking a review of our District Plan.

About you:

  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Ability to relate to a wide range of people

Alongside a flexible and can do attitude, you will need:

  • A degree in Planning or Resource Management
  • Membership of the New Zealand Planning Institute
  • Understanding of the District Plan process and up-to-date knowledge of Resource Management Act legislation
  • Understanding of Local Government
  • Environmental and political awareness
