Freedom Camping Ambassador
Temporary fixed-term, 32 hours/week until 30 April 2021
As a Freedom Camping Ambassador you will be responsible for providing information and advice to visitors and the wider community through informal visitation and monitoring of freedom campsites throughout Whanganui. In this role, you will educate freedom campers in 'responsible camping' initiatives, provide assistance, answer public queries and collect relevant statistical data whilst showing our visitors and residents why Whanganui is such a great place to visit.
This role requires you to work autonomously and maintain a professional standard at all times. The ideal applicant will be well presented, confident and approachable with excellent communication skills being a key attribute. Knowledge of our city, parks and reserves is essential.
This is a fixed-term role for a temporary period over the peak holiday (summer) season. Hours are flexible with a requirement of 32 hours per week. Additionally, a travel allowance and a cell phone allowance will be provided for the provision and use of your own vehicle and cell phone.
What you'll need:
- A current full NZ driver's license
- Provision and use of a personal compliant vehicle
- Cell phone.
- Previous customer service experience
- Effective communication both written and oral
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand
Successful applicants must undergo a Ministry of Justice criminal check and possess a satisfactory Police record in line with Council's employment requirements.
