COMPLIANCE OFFICER - PARKING

Whanganui District Council is keen to hear from active and physically fit team players to provide efficient and effective parking management services for a 6-month fixed term contract.
About the role
As a Compliance Officer - Parking you will hit the pavement to regulate parking throughout our city. You will also assist and answer public queries, manage conflict situations whilst representing the Council and showing our visitors and residents why Whanganui is such a great place. Full training and on-going professional development will be provided.
Some key responsibilities include:
- undertake regular patrols of restricted areas
- exercise sound judgment and interpretation when issuing an infringement to ensure the organisations polices, guidelines are maintained
- correctly issuing of infringement notices including photographic evidence
- all work carried out complies with necessary Health and Safety regulations
- managing or escalating controversial issues, where there maybe numerous perspectives
- providing advice to motorists and public ensuring good public relations
To be successful in this role, you'll be someone who has:
- a natural ability to build rapport and communicate with people from all walks of life
- conflict resolution skills and the ability to apply sound judgement and diffuse situations
- high energy and a positive attitude
- good problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- the ability to manage your time well and work autonomously
- a current full NZ driver's license
- effective written and oral communication
- the ability to operate electronic technology e.g. (PDA) Personal Device Application and Radio Telephones (RT's)
- excellent time management
- eligibility to work in New Zealand
- a good Fitness level is essential (walking up to 20k/day)
Successful applicants must undergo a Ministry of Justice criminal check and possess a satisfactory Police record in line with Council's employment requirements.
