Supervisor Resource Recovery Centre
We are seeking a practical, people-focused supervisor to support daily operations at our Resource Recovery Centre while helping the Whanganui community make the most of their recycling and waste reduction efforts.
In this hands-on supervisory role, you will coordinate the team and contractors to keep the centre running safely and smoothly. You'll provide welcoming guidance to visitors on proper recycling practices, operate centre equipment including baling and processing recyclables, collect materials from Council facilities and schools, and maintain the centre, equipment and grounds to a high standard. Working closely with the Team Leader, you'll help with scheduling and day-to-day management, maintain accurate records using computer-based systems, and ensure the centre meets all safety requirements and compliance standards.
To be successful in this role, you'll be someone who has:
- A current clean full NZ Driver's Licence and current Forklift Licence
- Experience supervising staff and working effectively as part of a team
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to educate and guide the public
- Competent computer skills, including the ability to use email, maintain records, and work with standard office software
- The ability to work independently, use sound judgement, and bring an honest, ethical approach to everything you do
- Flexibility and willingness to cover other work areas at short notice
