The Opportunity
Are you looking to kickstart your career in resource consent planning? We are seeking a detail-oriented, people person to join our vibrant council team.
In this role, you will be the first point of contact for community planning enquiries. You will process minor land use consents, and provide vital administrative support to our senior planners.
What you will do
- Guide Customers: Answer public enquiries regarding district plan rules, zoning, and resource consents.
- Assess Applications: Review and process simple, non-notified resource consent applications and assess building consent applications against the district plan.
- Manage Data: Maintain accurate electronic property records and planning databases.
- Support the Team: Assist senior planners with site visits, public notifications, processing LIM applications, assessing certification applications and report preparation.
What you bring
- Education: A qualification in urban planning, geography, environmental studies or local government experience would be an advantage but it not essential.
- Attributes: Strong time management, attention to detail, practically minded with great reasoning skills and a collaborative team attitude.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written English skills to explain complex rules to the public. Able to communicate effectively to a wide range of people.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and exposure to GIS mapping software.
- Legality: A valid New Zealand driver's licence and the legal right to work in NZ.
