Unicom Operator
Whanganui Airport
Love aviation? We're on the lookout for a casual UNICOM Operator to join the team at Whanganui Airport. You'll be covering weekends, public holidays, and leave as needed — perfect if you want to stay connected to aviation without a fixed schedule.
What you'll be doing
As a UNICOM Operator, you'll be the communication link between pilots and the airport - passing on weather updates, traffic information, and other key details to keep things running safely and smoothly. You'll work alongside ground staff and other airport users day-to-day and respond calmly and professionally if anything unexpected comes up. Full training is provided.
What you'll need
One of the following (current or held within the last 10 years):
- Commercial or Private Pilot's Licence, or
- Air Traffic Services qualification
It'd also be great if you have
- Familiarity with Whanganui Airport and local airspace
- Clear, confident communication skills
- A cool head under pressure and good attention to detail
- A solid understanding of aviation regulations and safety
A heads up — the tower is accessed via three flights of stairs, so you'll need to be physically fit for the role.
