From touring theatre productions and live music performances, to conventions, civic events and community celebrations, no two days are the same.

This is a hands-on, highly varied role for someone who thrives in live event environments and enjoys the challenge of turning ambitious ideas into memorable experiences and working as part of a team to deliver exceptional event experiences.

About the role

As our Senior Venues & Events Technician, you'll be a key member of the technical team responsible for delivering professional production services across a range of Whanganui venues.

You'll:

  • Deliver live audio, lighting, vision and AV services for a diverse programme of events
  • Work directly with artists, promoters, event organisers and touring productions
  • Lead and support casual crew, volunteers and junior technicians
  • Provide technical advice and production solutions to clients
  • Maintain and improve technical systems, equipment and venue infrastructure
  • Act as a venue technician during performances and events, ensuring safe and seamless operations
  • Help shape the future of our technical services through innovation, training and continuous improvement

About you

You'll bring a strong technical background and a passion for live events. You're equally comfortable operating a mixing console, troubleshooting a technical issue minutes before doors open, or supporting a touring crew to achieve their creative vision.

You'll have:

  • At least five years' experience in live events, theatre, audiovisual production or entertainment technology
  • Advanced skills in professional audio, lighting and AV systems
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and confidence working under pressure
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • A commitment to safe working practices and industry best practice
  • A collaborative approach and a willingness to mentor others

Experience in theatres, performing arts venues, conference centres or multi-purpose event venues will be highly regarded.

Why join us?
