Reference: 6928043

Do you enjoy working with people, solving problems, and helping keep a busy team organised?

Whanganui District Council is looking for an organised, proactive and people-focused 3 Waters Support Officer to join our team at 179 St Hill Street, Whanganui.

This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm.

As a key member of our 3 Waters team, you'll be a central point of contact connecting customers, contractors, field crews and office-based staff. You'll support operational activities, coordinate information, manage customer enquiries, administer water meter processes, and help deliver essential services to our community.

About You

We're looking for someone with strong judgement, good situational awareness, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

You'll enjoy helping others, communicating clearly, and ensuring people receive accurate and timely information. While you won't always have all the answers, you'll be confident seeking information, managing expectations, and keeping people informed.

You'll be someone who:

  • Communicates confidently and professionally with a wide range of people.
  • Builds positive relationships with customers, contractors, field crews and colleagues.
  • Can explain technical information in a clear and practical way.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and responds appropriately to changing situations.
  • Manages competing priorities and adapts to changing operational demands.
  • Works collaboratively to solve problems and support team success.
  • Is reliable, organised, and follows tasks through to completion.

Teamwork & Culture

We're proud of the culture we've built and are looking for someone who'll add to it.

We work hard, support one another, share knowledge and celebrate success together. We're looking for someone who values teamwork, communicates openly, shows respect for others, and is willing to pitch in where needed.

And yes, a good sense of humour helps too. We take our work seriously, but we enjoy having a laugh and creating an environment where people enjoy coming to work.

What You'll Bring

  • At least two years' experience in an administration, coordination or customer service role.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to prioritise work and remain adaptable in a busy environment.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support others.

Why Join Us?

You'll join a team that plays an important role in delivering services that matter to our community every day. If you enjoy variety, building relationships, keeping things running smoothly, and being part of a supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.
