Property and Facilities Officer

This is a fixed term opportunity covering parental leave.

We're seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our Property & Facilities team at Whanganui District Council. If you have a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and a passion for maintaining and improving community spaces, this could be your next career move.

About the Role:

You'll be responsible for actively managing some of our high-profile Council-owned buildings, ensuring cost-effective and fit-for-purpose solutions that meet both Council and community needs. Working within our Property & Facility Management Team, you'll help manage building maintenance, compliance, and tenant relationships while supporting various property-related projects.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience facilities management or building experience
  • A strong understanding of the principles of asset management
  • Strong administrative and organisational abilities
  • Project coordination experience
  • Great communication and stakeholder management
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Understanding of the trades industry
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
